The Real Reason Creators Quit Trying to Make It

It’s 6:19 am.

I’ve been here since 5:07 am. I’ve drank 1 and a half coffees. I’ve got to leave for work in 40 minutes.

How is it that 4 years later, I’m still doing this?

Why do I feel like I have more energy than ever to build on the internet?

I don’t work for hours and hours. I work for 2 hours a day most days on my creator thing, and I’ve been doing that for a good while now.

I’ve seen many people drop off, stop creating, and burnout. This content-creating thing can be exhausting if you don’t do it for the right reasons.

The secret for me?

To create selfishly.

You know…

  • I don’t jump on calls
  • I don’t go on podcasts
  • I don’t write for the algorithm
  • I don’t really work with other creators

I write what I want to write about, on my terms, because I can. I’ve got a full-time job that pays the bills.

I don’t ignore the algorithm — that would be silly.

I work it in my favor. Over the years I’ve created a tonne of systems, ideas, and frameworks that…
