The Itching Brain

Sometimes my brain itches.

As you can imagine, a brain is hard to scratch. It’s not like you can lift up a section of skull, dip your finger into the membranes between and give it a good’ol itch.

It’s doesn’t work like that.

Instead you must find other ways to itch. Other avenues to explore. Other ways of making the itch go away. Namely, ignorance. Ignorance I find works quite well to scratch and itch.

Why ignorance is bliss

Mostly because most itches go away by themselves. Who was that guy who said his approach to business is to not reply for a good while because most business problems resolve themselves?

The same is true for my itching thoughts. Sometimes I wake up and I feel like it would make most sense to rip my entire head off. Potentially not the best idea in the world but still an idea none the less.

But distraction works in my favour. I look to my to-do list, my goals, my hopes and dreams all the other competing thoughts rattling in my brain and I forget that itch that woke me up screaming. It’s scratched.

Why laughter is life

Laughter works in a similar way. My latest innovation is to laugh at my own thoughts. It’s a little odd granted but it seems to yield a similar level of success that ignorance does.
