A few things have happened lately.

The old me would have internalized, ranted, raged, got upset, and told myself that life was unfair. Today though, things are different.

I sort of watch on. I see the old me, in front of me, ranting and raging, getting all worked up about something I can’t yet control. Then as I watch her, I realize that I’m sat, calm, letting it all play out in front of me.

I realize in that moment I have a choice. I can choose to get all worked up, think it’s all about me or I can choose to let it wash over me. It’s a choice. I can choose to step into the chaos or out of it.

And I choose out.

Here’s how.

Take a few minutes to digest the situation

Time is a funny thing.

A few moments even, can make all the difference. The difference between making things exponentially worse or just assessing the situation as it is and letting things calm.

One thing is for sure, more negative energy in a negative situation isn’t helpful. When things are going wrong, sometimes you’ve got a few moments to step back, not react and just assess.
