How to Deal With Your Stress at Work When You’re At Work Stressed

Maybe you’ve been where I am right now.
Nervous energy — A recognition that the two coffees you decided to have at 6 am this morning were probably a bad idea because now you’re stressed and have coffee energy… great.
You can’t think straight, you’re overcome with a weird current in your body, you’re not even talking but know when you do, your voice will shake.
This is how you deal with work stress when you’re at work, stressed.
Step 1: Take a big ol’ deep breath
Sometimes, in the midst of stress, you forget to breathe.
Not breathing is probably not helping with all the nervous energy you’ve got circulating in your system. So wherever you are right now, whatever you're doing, stop and take a deep breath.
Close your eyes, let your lungs fill up, your shoulders rise, your head tilt. And just breathe. And again, breathe.
If that’s still not working — get up out of your chair, make the room cool, take a few steps, and look out the window and find ten things to notice about the world. The rolling hills, the cars, the sheep, how the browns of the tree tops fade into the field behind…
