How I Run an 18,000 Subscriber Newsletter
Alongside my 9-to-5
The trouble with opportunity is that everybody and his dog come flooding.
The idea that you can make money on the internet has meant that over the last few years, the market has flooded with content.
AI added fuel to the fire.
And now we’re in this sea of newsletters, personal branding and everybody trying to get a slice of the pie.
I’m pretty grateful that I’ve been able to escape the noise and just focus on the craft but it wasn’t always this way.
For a long time, I stumbled around sitting in a pit of jealousy, hanging onto every word these successful creators said.
For months on end I would tell myself there is no opportunity, it’s a flooded market, and everybody is trying to do the same thing.
My conclusion — there was no space for me.
But I’ll tell you, if one thing changed things for me it was that I realized that a flooded market is an opportunity to build a boat.
Don’t me wrong, it’s hard work.
My word, it is. I’ve been in this writing game for a good few years now, and over the years I’ve realized that noise is just a signal.
