Without the chaos and confusion

I’m happiest when life is still.

There are no raging emotions, no swinging agendas, no unnecessary stress caused by grumpy people, and strictly no drama. I like calm, joy and forward motion.

For almost the entirity of my twenties, I never thought about any of this stuff instead, I chased more. Career progression, money, things.

It’s funny, when I did, none of those things brought me much joy.

There was an initial fizz of excitement when I got the promotion or earned more money but like a sherbert on your tongue, it soon fizzled out and I was left with a bitter sweetness.

There are so many reasons why I’ve chosen to live a simple, quiet life, and here are some of them.

Giving up on competing with people

I’ve given up because it’s a game that never ends.

You pick a target and feel wildly inadequate, you climb, you feel better because you start doing better and then you decide you need a new challenge so pick something else to strive towards.

I’m not advocating for giving up on life and never progressing but rather to measure against yourself rather than anyone else.
