3 Year Writing Transformation From Zero to 100,000

Three years ago I started writing on the internet.

The pandemic has just kicked off, it was a Tuesday or maybe a Wednesday. I was in a planning meeting for a new piece of work. I remember the senior executive I was working for said “It depends on what happens with COVID”.

I answered back “Oh really, do you think something is going to change?”

A few days later we all got told to work from home for the foreseeable. With more time than ever (and more thoughts than ever) I thought I better put my brain to good use.

So I started to write.

The beginning

There’s nothing like being a beginner to sober your idea of your never-ending capabilities. I was hit by the stark and obvious realization that this writing thing was much (much) harder than I thought.

I was always a science type. I was about data, evidence, and facts. Creativity was not my thing. But I felt like I had something to say — that I needed to say something. My thoughts were constantly bubbling over and causing me to go into a tailspin.
